Melanie Cherng was raised in a family that predominantly practices Pure Land Buddhism. She began practicing meditation off and on in the Zen tradition in high school and college. After being exposed to Vipassana meditation through the POC drop-in sit at CIMC, she began exploring insight meditation at both CIMC and on retreats at IMS, eventually becoming a POC practice leader at CIMC in 2014. She is interested in exploring different ways to hold open spacious practice spaces that provide rest, transformation and healing for her communities. Melanie is also a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, dancer and qigong practitioner. She believes that daily intentional movement brings health and levity and is committed to sharing movement with all around her.
